Thank you for your inquiry about the Forever Earth Program.
For over five years the Forever Earth program has provided rich educational experiences on board a floating laboratory to over 20,000 students in Clark County and was a platform for research, community education, and university field trips, as well as a floating visitor’s center at Lake Mead National Recreational Area.
The tremendous success of this program has been the result of a collaborative effort among the Southern Nevada Agency Partnership, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas; Public Lands Institute, and Forever Resorts, with strong support from the Clark County School District. The program was funded through the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act. Local businesses, non-profits, and individuals also donated resources and services to UNLV in support of this program for which we are grateful.
More than just a field trip, this program has given students a rare opportunity to study and examine different facets of water in the desert such as its characteristics and quality, the species that rely on it, its ability to change a landscape, and much more.
Funding for this program ended on May 31, 2011. It is the hope of everyone involved with Forever Earth that this unique program be continued with alternative funding. It is our goal to ensure this opportunity for your students and children remains uninterrupted. While fundraising efforts are underway please check back for funding updates.
